What I thought I wanted to do:Â A career in the animal industry, as a zookeeper.
 What I ended up doing: Becoming the manager of an animal park.
How I got here:Â Two years at Askham Bryan College doing Animal Management Level 3 then two years at Askham Bryan University doing Management of Animal Collections with Conservation (MACWC). Finally, one year at Askham Bryan University doing Zoo Management (BSc Hons).
Most useful skill or character trait for my job:Â Confidence is a key part of the job, it helps when talking to customers and managing work experience and staff teams.
Top tip! Don’t give up, just because someone says you shouldn’t or can’t do something doesn’t mean they’re right. If you know your end goal or have a passionate career choice, push for it!
