London Trip

We’re looking forward to welcoming parents into school on Wednesday 7th February from 6-7pm to discuss the upcoming Year 9 and 10 London Trip.

If you’re unable to make it, please let us know and we can share a copy of the resources so that all parents and students know the details and expectations for the trip.

W/C 5th February Assemblies

Next week’s assemblies are on World Cancer Day and self-examinations;

more details can be found in the letter sent by email yesterday.

Please contact main reception if you have any questions.

Sport Update

This week we’ve been analysing participation at sports clubs. We can report that on a weekly basis, approximately 210 students are taking advantage of the recreational sports club offer.

Taking part in sport helps you stay in shape, develop friendships and feel good about yourself.

At YHS we believe there is a sporting activity out there for everyone!

Take a look at the current offer and set yourself a goal to take part in at least one sports club a week.

Congratulations to our early morning swimmers! Commitment and dedication has resulted in many swimming their first length this week. We are proud of you!

We will contact those next on the waiting list next week.

A big thank you to our sports leaders for their continued support in the delivery of the primary school sports festivals.

Without their support, the delivery of such large-scale events would not be possible.

Competitive sport across the York secondary schools has been quiet this half term due to the cold weather and dark nights.

We have however many fixtures lined up for after the half term break and we look forward to getting back out there!

Design Technology

Year 11 DT students have worked really hard on their NEA component today.

Mr Cadwallader is very pleased with the progress made today across a range of projects including a jewellery box, chair and travel box!

Well done to all involved!

FlyMe Visit

On Monday, 14 Year 10 students visited FlyMe in Barnsley to learn about careers in aviation, including cabin crew, ground staff and pilots.

We participated in safety briefings, evacuations, trolley service, first aid, smoke filled cabin drill, VR headsets, check in, security and flight simulators.

The students were a pleasure to be with, and asked lots of questions.

Free Online Course – ‘Parenting: The Teenage Years’
