What I thought I wanted to do: Become a police officer or a teacher.
 What I ended up doing: Subcontracting for Centrica and teaching kids and adults martial arts.
How I got here: After leaving York High, I worked in every field imaginable – farming, hospitality, retail – none of it worked. I was lucky to meet the right person at the right time, earned their respect and trust and landed a job subcontracting for Centrica. I also teach martial arts.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: Patience and kindness.
Top tip! Never give up and know that it’s okay if plans change. Eventually you’ll find what you are meant to be doing.
