What I thought I wanted to do: I wanted to be an author
What I ended up doing: I still want to be an author (I’m looking at doing a creative writing degree), I’m looking into journalism as a main career with writing on the side.
How I got here: I started looking at possible degrees and someone suggested it to me.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: For writing, I will need to be able to use language and techniques effectively, I will also need to be able to give balanced views/arguments.
Top tip! Set boundaries with work (mainly homework) and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I found it really hard to keep up with everything last year because of the pressure I was putting on myself and I got almost no time to myself or to spend with my family and friends outside of college which really got me down.
