Name: Jessica Chappell
Profession: Estate Agent
Attended York High School: 2012-2017
Post-16 attended: N/A
University or college? N/A
Favourite subject at school: Art & Geography
What I thought I wanted to do: Law
What I ended up doing: Estate Agent
How I got here: I got an apprenticeship at 17 in a solicitors, because I couldn’t really handle my time at college. I worked over the years in different departments and became a Conveyancing Assistant. I found my love and interest in property and now I work at Hunters Estate Agents.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: Maths and English. Time management and prioritisation, you’re dealing with hundreds of people a day both in person, on the phone and attending appointments.
Top tip! Don’t think too much into what you want to do after school, let your experiences lead you! I struggled with school, I couldn’t sit in a room without distraction and on reflection I wish I had made more of my time at school because they really are some of the best years of your life.
