Principal’s Weekly Post – Week 23

The Principal’s Weekly Post

Week 23: 7 MARCH 2025

Celebrating performance

It feels like spring is well and truly upon us this week with a much needed upturn in the weather. I hope you have managed to enjoy some sunshine!

It was lovely to welcome our local primary schools for the York School’s dance festival this week. This fantastic occasion gave the opportunity for primary students to perform some fantastic dance routines which were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

On the theme of performance, the rehearsals for our Grease production are really taking shape with the set nearly finished and the performance almost ready to take to the stage on 2-4 April. Join us for an incredible show and an unforgettable evening, celebrating our students’ amazing talents in a spectacular showcase!

Finally, we look forward to welcoming our Year 10 parents and carers to Parents’ Evening next week on Wednesday 12 March. This is an invaluable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and future targets and we look forward to seeing our Year 10 community during the evening.

Finally, thank you once again to everyone who took time to provide feedback on the recent consultation regarding changes to the school day timings. It was incredibly useful to hear your thoughts and opinions. A reminder that the consultation outcomes can be found here.

Have a great weekend!

Principal

Sparx Science

We are very excited to announce that we now have access to Sparx Science. Homework will be set for students in Years 7-9 every Wednesday and will be due in the following Wednesday morning.

Nationwide research shows that students who complete homework outperform those who don’t, so we are delighted to have this opportunity to improve our students’ results.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your support with this.

Mr Drury

Excellence Every Day

Rewards this week went to Bella, Sophie, Billy, Hayla, Isobel, Lucy, Ava, Amelia, Sophia, Gracie, Millie, Olivia and Kai on their Excellence Every Day awards. This week Bella and Gracie chose to join Mr Kumar for a Hot Chocolate.

Well done to all!

Lost property

If your child has misplaced any of their school belongings, please ask them to come along to Pupil Reception and check lost property. We have so many lost pieces of uniform, in particular coats, that must have an owner!

Any lost property that isn’t collected by the end of this term will be donated to charity.

GREASE is the WORD

GREASE is one of the world’s most popular and enduring musicals, and this year our cast are stepping into the shoes of the Rydell High students to bring you an amazing show.

Featuring the hit songs “Greased Lightnin”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, “You’re the One That I Want”, and “Summer Nights” GREASE (Young@Part) follows the journey of Danny and Sandy, alongside the Burger Palace Boys and the Pink Ladies, as they navigate high school to the unforgettable rock n’ roll soundtrack that defined generations.

Performances take place on Wednesday 2nd – Friday 4th April. Doors open 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.00pm.
