What I thought I wanted to do: Website Developer. I enjoyed learning how to create with different coding languages and broadening my knowledge with IT systems and applications.
What I ended up doing: Working at Aviva: I’ve climbed the corporate ladder within Aviva since I was 18 when I started as a customer service representative. Along the journey I have been a Finalist in the Community Award at Aviva’s annual ACE awards, and I am still climbing my way up the ladder today.
How I got here: I did work experience for two weeks during college in the management information team, which led me to apply for a customer service role after college at Aviva in Investments. I worked my way up to a Lead Adviser position. While building my network within the business I have found new opportunities which brought me to my current role.
Most useful skill or character trait for my job: Effective communication: I need to speak with multiple stakeholders each day including marketing experts, business analysts, project managers and more. Clear and effective communication is essential to my role to ensure everyone is aligned with the product vision and goals.
Top tip! Keep learning, and opportunities will keep coming. Stop learning, and so will the opportunities.
